This year, you will be participating in teams. Your teams, as sponsored, are as follows:
Aeva and Ystelle; Ashleigh and Larsen; Aubrey and Kieran;Brigitte and Ellias; Cabel and Joss; Cyrel and Hollingworth; D'Ivann and Helene; Drael and Kristopher; Griffith and Xian; Fila and Lisette; Indra and Zacharius; Ivy and Reece; Kol and Laurence; Leonel and Solus; Lucinde and Visvaldis; Malis and Vox; Oberin and Odette; Shryke and Siegfried; Talbot and Thane.
Should both members of a team survive, you will both be permitted to leave the arena alive. May the odds be ever in your favour...

Well, provided we do both survive this and are returned to our homes, I have a good deal of wealth I can offer you as appreciation. I've spent more time at sea than on land in my life, which leaves me more than a little skilled with any sort of rope. And compared to some of the children in this game, I'm sure I have a bit more relevant experience in regards to life—or lack thereof.
[He says the last quite seriously; it isn't a fact he admits to many faces, but he supposes that if they do both survive, it won't be so difficult to keep his partner permanently silent in regards to his secrets.]

And not one to pull punches either, I see. I'm Lucinde - you can go ahead and call me Luce. I don't want your money, sea captain, but I'll take you on. Just one rule - I'm taking first pick on any weapons we find. Since you're not suggesting no specialty in that area, I can't see that you're going to object.
[She'll keep him, but that doesn't mean she has to trust him - until she has a blade at her hip she won't be trusting anyone. So instead of offering a hand to shake, Luce bows lightly, asking;] Is that a deal, sailor?
